Kaneka Biopolymers

Kaneka Biopolymers is the manufacturer of PHBH™, a plant based biopolymer produced via a revolutionary bio-fermentation process using renewable feedstock. Kaneka PHBH™ can replace common plastic products such as plates, straws, cups, cutlery or any other single use items. Our grades can be used in traditional extrusion, injection molding and blown film applications. Kaneka PHBH™ is bio-based, strongly resistant to heat and can act as a barrier to water vapor. Kaneka PHBH™ grades are stable under every day usage conditions but when no longer needed, and given the right conditions under either aerobic, anaerobic or marine conditions in the natural environment, they will begin to degrade and will convert back into nature. With today’s changing world, compostable and biodegradable plant based plastics have become crucial to a sustainable and safe way to replace single-use traditional plastics.

It does so by providing a clear set of standards – the RJC ‘Code of Practices’ – which is verified through a third party, independent, certification process. Adoption and adherence with the RJC’s Code of Practices presents a pathway for companies to address sustainability best practices and align with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. RJC is a gateway to sustainable growth for businesses. RJC also works with multi-stakeholder initiatives on responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence.
